Our History

The Local News Collective was formed in 2022 to meet the demands of the Canadian digital ad buying community. The LNC is a brand-safe environment that connects deeply with local audiences from coast-to-coast. It’s the largest hyper-local digital news collective in Canada. Each site in the network is home to local journalists who cover the communities in which they live. Writing compelling, truthful stories is at the heart of what we do.

The participating publishers are Lodestar Media, Village Media, Castanet, Black Press Media, Golden West Broadcasting, Great West Media, The Alberta Newspaper Group, Narcity Media, Zoomer Media, Ici Média, TV5, Gravité, Métro Média, M32, and Indiegraf. The Local News Collective spans 412 sites across 46 publishers and 10 primary programmatic seats.
